ABOUT US
OSheehan’s Beagles is a small hobby kennel located in
Victoria, on beautiful Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada. We have been involved with purebred beagles
since 1991 and have been actively breeding since 1994.
We are members in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club,
the Beagle Club of BC and the Pacific Animal Therapy Society (PATS). Over the
years we have served on the executive of the Beagle Club numerous times, and
also on the executive and the training committee of the Greater Victoria Dog
Obedience Club. We have actively
participated in obedience, agility and pet visiting programs with our
dogs. We have also been involved for
many years with breed rescue through the Beagle Club.
All of our beagles are house dogs who
decorate the leather couch during the day and sleep in bed with the teenagers
at night. They are first and foremost
our beloved companions. All our puppies
are raised in the center of our rather chaotic house, and are exposed to all
the usual sights and sounds of a busy family household. Temperament and health
are the two major focuses in our breeding program, along with early
socialization of all pups being of primary importance. Our pups go to their new homes at the age of
8 weeks with the first set of vaccines done, tattooed, wormed and registered
with the Canadian Kennel Club. All pups
have been thoroughly checked by our vet before placement with their new
families. We usually average 2 or 3 litters
per year, depending on the breeding cycles of our girls.
